Summary

Ahead Group is looking for an ADAS Software Development Engineer to join a client in the automotive engineering sector. The ideal candidate will design and develop ADAS/AD software functions for client projects, contributing to advanced driver assistance and autonomous driving initiatives while supporting the growth of automotive engineering capabilities in Japan.


Responsibilities

• Design and develop ADAS/AD software functions for automotive client projects

• Develop driving, parking, and in-cabin sensing features

• Implement perception algorithms using radar, camera, and ultrasonic sensors

• Contribute to software architecture definition, integration, and validation activities

• Manage and execute the full software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, development, configuration, and integration

• Collaborate with clients and cross-functional development teams in Japan and globally

• Apply Agile development principles and best practices

• Support technical and architectural decision-making

• Mentor junior engineers and support team knowledge development


Required Skills

• 5+ years of experience in embedded software development within the automotive industry

• Strong expertise in ADAS software development and ADAS-specific development processes

• Hands-on experience with AUTOSAR Classic and AUTOSAR Adaptive

• Solid knowledge of ASIL, ISO 26262, and Automotive SPICE (ASPICE)

• Experience with vehicle communication protocols including CAN, LIN, and Ethernet

• Proven experience managing the full software development lifecycle

• Proficiency in C and C++

• Experience using JIRA, Confluence, and CI/CD tools such as Jenkins

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

• Business-level communication skills in Japanese and English (reading, writing, listening, speaking)

• Basic proficiency with MS Office tools (Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint, Excel, Word)


Desired Skills

• Experience in embedded software development for IVI and/or connected vehicle systems

• Certified Scrum Master

• Experience working with Japanese automotive OEMs and/or Tier 1 suppliers.
